NCEA Level 2 Art: Paint or Printmaking

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Ms J. Adamson.

Art develops inquiry and exploration of ideas and materials.  Students produce a body of work within a selected theme and focus on one art discipline; either paint or printmaking, which is assessed internally for Achievement Standards and this work also contributes to a folio of work for the External submission.

Recommended Prior Learning

Achieving 14 credits or more in L1ART. Or in consultation with HOD.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

• A3 Art workbook or clear file.
• Own pencils and black pen.
• Students may purchase their own brushes or cutting tools, etc.

Pathway

Art develops problem solving skills and creative skills. Students gain good attention to detail, time- management and the ability to plan and follow processes to gain the best outcome. These skills are important in all career pathways.

Assessment Information

Note the Achievement Standards above are for either Painting or Printmaking. Students select from one discipline, although it is possible to take an Achievement Standard from either but the External AS 2.4 (Art boards) must focus on either painting or printmaking. Both disciplines offer a possible 24 credits.

You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.

This course is eligible for subject endorsement.

This course is approved for University Entrance.
