This option will offer aspiring high-performance athletes the chance to further their sporting pedigree through a programme tailored to suit their needs. This course will be on top of their general HPW class. It will involve a mixture of strength and conditioning, skill specific training, sports nutrition, goal setting, sport psychology. Acceptance into this course will be through an application form, testimonials/referee statements, previous performance and personal character.
An Application Form will be made available as soon as this option is selected. Once selected, it will appear as a Button on the Developing Athletes Course as well as being available in the Permission Slips list on SchoolBridge.
This must be filled out by the Due Date for entry to this course.
This course runs all year - selecting it will count as two option choices.
NB: If you choose this course, you cannot choose Outdoor Education.

Southland Boys' High School endeavours to timetable courses depending on students' needs, interests and future plans. Many factors can influence whether a course is able to be offered in the following year. These can include:
These factors can also impact on timetabling, and as a result students will be asked for input about any clashes that may occur.
Where a course is not able to be run, students' back-up subjects will be used. If there are issues with student selections and the timetabling process, students will have the opportunity to make a decision in conjunction with staff input on the best solution.
