Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr S. Meijer.

Recommended Prior Learning

Students will have an interest in the Great Outdoors, ideally with prior experience in mountain biking, tramping & outdoor pursuits.

This course will be physically demanding, so a good level of fitness is required.  If the opportunity arises for the class to build towards a Triathlon (Swim/ Bike/ Run), then being able to swim 400m will be mandatory.

This course allows students to become aware of their outdoor environment, developing their knowledge, confidence and skills in an outdoor setting.

Being able to work within a team environment is a crucial element in this course, as well as being prepared to improve their personal fitness to complete outdoor tasks.  There is the possibility that this class will be building up towards completing a Triathlon.

Pupils will also learn aspects of Orienteering and map reading, as well as completing other classroom-based tasks.

Numbers for this course are limited, due to the logistics and ratios needed to run outdoor activities.
